During sessions you will be invited to share honestly current or past experiences that are affecting your present life. You will be helped to put some light over situations or aspects of yourself that need attention. Sometimes you will be assigned simple exercises or assignments conducive to help you to practice what has been discussed during session. You will be experimenting new perspectives and ways to handle situations until you find the right option for you. Depending on your uniqueness, specific needs and goals, and level of commitment, therapy can be short-term or long-term.
Therapy sessions will be scheduled in a weekly basis, although sometimes it might be suggested to either have sessions twice a week or increase the time of the session from 50 minutes to 90 minutes. Towards the end of the process, we may space sessions out to every other week.

Besides the sessions in the office, I might suggest you to do things such as reading, journaling, practicing a new skill (consciously breathing, meditating), observing and taking notes of your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, and moving into action in the pursue of your personal goals. Once you feel closer to your goal for coming to counseling with me, we will meet less frequently until we just get in touch for follow-ups.
